Weddings, Flying Fallos & Summer Energy
Welcome to the Bright & Beautiful Newsletter!
(or: How we accidentally packed six months of activity into a few short weeks…)
Hello lovely people,
Welcome to our very first Bright & Beautiful newsletter of 2026!
We’re hoping to publish these every few weeks to keep you updated with all the happenings in our little corner of Zakynthos — weddings, gift shop treasures, new creative adventures, holistic offerings and probably the occasional reminder that hydration is important in Greek summer temperatures.
And goodness… what a start to the season it has been.
The Great Gift Shop Awakening
Before wedding season even properly arrived, there was the small matter of bringing our gift shop back to life.
That meant restocking shelves, unpacking boxes, discovering things we forgot we ordered in January and sourcing beautiful new products that you won’t find lining every tourist shelf on the island.
One thing we’re really passionate about is choosing pieces from small independent makers wherever possible. We actively try to avoid mass-produced souvenirs and instead fill the shop with handcrafted, thoughtful and slightly unusual items — the sort of things that make people stop, smile and say “Oh… I’ve never seen anything like that before!”
Which brings us perfectly to…
Supplier Spotlight – Anactachs & The Happy Flying Fallos
Starting strong this month (possibly stronger than expected…) our featured supplier is the wonderfully quirky Greek brand Anactachs.
Established in 2006, Anactachs have been hand-creating paper-mâché artwork in Greece ever since, producing playful, colourful pieces with plenty of personality.
One of their most talked-about collections — and now proudly sitting in our shop — is the wonderfully eccentric Happy Flying Fallos.
Before anyone starts awkwardly pretending to browse the postcards…
These cheerful winged creations are actually inspired by ancient Greco-Roman symbolism. Based on the historic tintinnabulum amulets, winged phallus figures were traditionally displayed above doorways and in gardens as symbols of fertility, prosperity, protection and good luck — and to ward off the evil eye.
So really… they’re practically historical artefacts.
We absolutely love that they’re equal parts conversation starter, artwork and ancient Mediterranean mischief.
(Also watching people spot them for the first time has become one of our quiet forms of entertainment.)
Denim Jackets With Intention (and Slight Obsession)
As if there wasn’t enough happening already…
This season also saw the launch of my collection of recycled denim jackets.
Every jacket starts life differently and is individually transformed using hand-selected decals, paints, charms and finished with intention and energy woven into the creative process.
No two are ever the same.
And somehow — to my complete surprise and delight — they’ve sold so well that nearly half of them are already travelling around the world with their new owners.
Honestly, seeing pieces created in our little corner of Zante ending up in different countries feels quite magical.
So… the sewing supplies are coming back out and over the next month I’ll be designing another collection.
Watch this space.
Wedding Season: Activated
Once the shop was sparkling and stocked, wedding season arrived… and arrived enthusiastically.
We had several weddings beautifully packed together in a very short space of time which definitely kept everyone on their toes.
There may have been spreadsheets.
There may have been emergency iced coffees.
There may have been moments where someone asked what day it was and nobody could answer.
But thanks to planning, organisation, excellent preparation and a truly brilliant team, everything came together smoothly and each wedding felt completely unique.
Some of the stunning venues we’ve had the pleasure of transforming this season include:
✨ Paradise Island
✨ Rustic Charm
✨ Spellbound
✨ Lemon Tree Taverna & the beautiful chapel beside it in Old Alykanas
Each venue has its own personality and every wedding reminded us exactly why we love doing what we do.
Reiki, Readings & Recharging the Soul
And because apparently one career simply isn’t enough…
Summer has also meant returning to one of my favourite parts of what we offer — Reiki healing and intuitive card readings.
A while ago I gained my Reiki Level 2 certification and over the last few years I’ve continued developing my energy work alongside card readings and wax artwork.
Winter tends to be our season for distance healing and online readings, but summer gives us the chance to meet people in person and work face-to-face — which always feels incredibly special.
Sessions can take place:
On the peaceful hilltop surrounded by nature
Under the shade of the trees
Or in the calm space of our gift shop in Alykanas
Whether someone arrives needing deep rest, emotional clarity or simply a moment to reconnect with themselves, each session is shaped around what they need.
Benefits people often seek through Reiki include:
• Deep relaxation and stress reduction
• Emotional release and greater inner calm
• Support for sleep and physical comfort
• Restoring energetic balance and reducing fatigue
Card readings can help with:
• Clarity and insight
• Navigating decisions and life changes
• Reflection and understanding recurring patterns
• Shifting anxious thoughts into practical next steps
Together they work beautifully — the cards often reveal where attention is needed, while Reiki helps create space for movement, release and renewed energy.
And if energy work isn’t quite your thing but relaxation definitely is…
We also offer massage and reflexology, plus holistic sessions and individual or group card reading bookings.
If any of that speaks to you, just ask — we love creating sessions that fit what people need.
So… if you’re still reading…
Firstly, congratulations.
Secondly… writing this all down has made me realise that perhaps we have achieved rather a lot over the first few months of the season.

No wonder the tea keeps going cold.
A huge well done to the Bright & Beautiful team — we’ve worked incredibly hard and we’re so proud of everything we’ve created so far.
We can’t wait to welcome you into the shop, share what’s new, hear your stories and hopefully be part of your Zante memories.
See you soon,
With love from
